Educational Supports & Scholarships

It is our goal to build a community where all families are able to care for their children safely. But when that isn't possible, and children and youth come into care, we want to ensure that they have access to the educational opportunities they need to achieve their education and career goals.

Across Canada, less than 50% of youth in care graduate from high school and for those who do attend college or university, less than 3% will earn a post-secondary degree by age 25.*

Thanks to the generosity of donors, we are changing those stats: since 2017, 36 youth have graduated high school and since 2016, 28 youth have completed a post secondary degree or diploma.

Your gift towards post-secondary scholarships and other education supports can provide tutoring, assistive devices, help with school costs such as books or tools, and tuition.  Your donation can help youth worry less about the financial barriers they may face and focus instead on their dreams for the future.

DID YOU KNOW...

99% of children stay with their families after an assessment or investigation?  Children only come into care if there is an urgent or immediate need for their safety and protection.  It is our goal that children return to their families if it is safe to do so and we work with families to make that happen.

***The pandemic highlighted that we must be able to adapt in order to help families with whatever supports they need, whenever they need them. If you would like to make a gift that will be flexible enough to adapt to and meet future needs, please click here to be taken to our donation page on Canada Helps.
